Phlebotomists are responsible for drawing blood samples from patients as instructed by physicians or other health care professionals. They may only be responsible for collecting and handling laboratory samples at a clinical lab, or they may do it as part of their overall medical assistant, patient care technician or EMT duties.
Training for: California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT-1) / National Certified Phlebotomy Technician (through the National Center for Competency Testing for Phlebotomy, mandatory for California State CPT-1 Licensing)
Class: 60 hours
Clinical externship: 40-160 hours
High school diploma, GED, or higher-level degree
ESL students must pass an English test
Provide 2 sealed official transcripts

This refresher course is perfect for career re-entry, certification preparation, new California residents, and foreign-trained medical professionals.

EKG technicians prepare patients and operate specialized equipment to record the electrical activity of a patient’s heart.
Certified EKG Technician (CET) training course
Class: 60 hours
Externship: Optional 80-180 hours
High school diploma, GED, or higher-level degree
ESL students must pass an English test
