6-Week Nursing Assistant Career Training in the Bay Area
Every member of a healthcare team plays a vital role in the well-being of patients. Nursing Assistants are a critical part of that team to ensure comfort and efficiency when someone is under the care of medical professionals.
Medical care advancements have begun to help people live longer, which means there is a growing number of elderly in need of long-term care. Nursing Assistants are crucial members of organizations that provide convalescent and end-of-life services.
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), a Nursing Assistant’s duties include:
- Taking patients’ temperature
- Blood pressure
- Pulse and respiration rate
- Keeping patient records in terms of food/fluid intake and output
- Assisting patients with grooming and personal hygiene
- Obtaining food trays and assisting residents with feeding
- Working with residents on range-of-motion exercises and movements

Becoming a Confident Nursing Assistant
The Nursing Assistant Course at BAMA Institute is a 6-week long training program designed to prepare individuals to provide services to long-term care facilities, hospital acute care teams, home health care, and other medical facilities. The course offers:
- 2 weeks hands-on, classroom training and 4 weeks offsite clinical training
- Optional 8-hour readiness module that incorporates work-directed services to help participants transition to sustained economic independence
- Preparation for certification with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH)
This course is approved by the California Department of Public Health.
